Battle with CS Ironclads
On January 31, 1863, Keystone State was disabled while engaging the Confederate ironclads Chicora and Palmetto State in their effort to break the union's blockading force. The CSS Palmetto State struck Keystone State with several shells causing loss of all power. She was later repaired locally.
