James Albert Wickless died Sunday, July 7, 2013 in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He was born on July 18, 1919 to Oscar Anthony and Grace Marie Wickless in Sharpsburg Iowa,  He had  attended high school in Weldon, Iowa and had graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.   James served in the U.S. Navy in World War ll in the Aleutian Islands.  He then worked for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for 33 years as an accountant/auditor and then as the Bursar.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife of 71 years, Alta.  He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Mimi Wickless of Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Ron Niederhaus of Elkhorn, Nebraska and Joanie and John Lindsay of Lincoln; and his sister, Jean Pratt of Unionville, Missouri. Left to greive him are his grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Matt and Andy Wickless, Chris Clements, Lisa Richter, Jenny Flanders, Kate Karol, Tom Lindsay, Matt Steinheider, Anne Jackson, and Jill Steinheider.  He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
