U-Boat Attack en route to Belfast
The Liberty Ship SS Dan Beard was torpedoed by U-1202 off Strumble Head, North Wales while en route to Belfast, Northern Ireland. A single torpedo broke the ship in two. Lifeboats were launched in 20-30 foot waves. One boat made it way to shore, thirteen survivors were picked-up by British coastal craft.
