The Tanker SS india Arrow was attacked by U-103 about twenty miles southeast of Cape May New Jersey. She was en route, unescorted to New Jersey from Corpus Cristi, Texas. ... The explosion from the torpedo destroyed the aft section lifeboats and setting the diesel fuel cargo on fire. The ship sank within ten minutes. ... Eight men were lost in the aft section of the ship, eighteen were lost when the their lifeboat was dragged under with the sinking ship.
