U-Boat Attack near Cristobal
The Liberty Ship, SS Melville E. Stone was torpedoed by U-516 while en route to New York via the Panama Canal. The ship was struck by two torpedoes and sank within 8 minutes. All survivors were picked-up shortly after by SC-1023 and SC-662.
