Excerpts from obituary published in San Diego Union-Tribune on 6/23/2019

Lloyd Joseph Barbarin was born on August 15, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He enlisted in the Navy in September 1954 and remained on active duty until May 1973 when retiring with the rate of Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman.  After earning a degree in Hospital Administration, he enjoyed a successful career with Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.  He died on May 30, 2019 in San Diego leaving a heroic legacy of humanitarianism.  He is survived by his wife, five children and several grandchildren.
