Bruno Hochmuth entered military service after graduating from Texas A&M University in 1935, and upon resigning his U.S. Army Reserve commission. During the Vietnam War while serving as Commanding General, 3d Marine Division, he was killed when the helicopter in which he was riding exploded in mid-air and crashed.
