
ON 26 APRIL COD WAS THREATENED BY A FIRE IN THE AFT TORPEDO ROOM, S1C A.G. JOHNSON WERE WASHED OVERBOARD WHILE FREEING THE TORPEDO ROOM HATCH. JOHNSON WAS DROWNED DURING THE NIGHT, THE COD'S ONLY FATAL CASUALTY DURING THE WAR.
