Eric Lloyd Barr , Sr.

Date of death: March 25, 1975

Eric Lloyd Barr graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1911. His son, who also graduated from the Academy in 1934, earned TWO Navy Crosses as a submarine commander during World War II. Eric Lloyd Barr, Sr. retired as a Captain in the U.S. Navy.

Awarded for actions during the World War I

The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Lieutenant Commander Eric Lloyd Barr, Sr., United States Navy, for distinguished and heroic action as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. E-1 and U.S.S. K-1, engaged in the important, exacting, and hazardous duty of patrolling the waters infested by enemy submarines, destroyers, and mines, protecting vitally important convoys of troops and supplies; and in offensive and defensive action, vigorously and unremittingly prosecuted against all forms of enemy naval activity during World War I.
