STAPLES, ELGIN LEROY died peacefully at the San Diego Hospice on November 15, 2009, of pulmonary distress, at age 86. Mr. Staples was born in Butler, Pennsylvania, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he fought in the battles of Savo Island and Midway. He was a long time r esident of San Bernardino in Devore, CA. Elgin worked as a fire fighter and at the post office in San Bernardino before becoming the manager of the Postal Credit Union. He then founded the Devore Investment Associates and Devore Capital Preservation investment clubs. Elgin was Interred on December 17, at Montecito Cemetery in San Bernardino, with his wife, Wilma Joan Staples. He is survived by his sons, Mike Morrow, Allen Staples, Shawn Staples; daughter, Shiobhan Staples; step children, Thomas Millar, Ma ry Larriba; and niece, Monette Cortez.
