MSGT Barbara Jean Dulinsky made Marine Corps history by being the first woman U.S, Marine to serve in a combat zone. When she requested to be sent to Vietnam her request was granted and she arrived in Vietnam on March 18, 1967. She was assigned there to the United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) combat operations center. Following her retirement from the Marine Corps on July 31, 1970, MSGT Dulinsky lived in Kent, Washington, where she died of natural causes on March 28, 1995.
