SERVICE MEMORIES

Joe Lee Hutchins was born on August 9, 1929, in Maypearl, Texas, and passed into eternal life on July 22, 2015.  Joe was a decorated Navy SEAL, graduating from UDT Replacement Class 004 on March 22, 1952, and served in combat both in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  He attained the rate of Gunners Mate Senior Chief Petty Officer and was a driving force as a senior enlisted member of UDT-12.  He retired from the Navy in 1969 after a career of 23 years.  Upon retirement he founded Hutchins Realty in Imperial Beach, California, coached with the Little League, was a lifetime member of the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce, served as a Director and Officer of the South Bay Board of Realtors and was active in the Kiwanis Club.  He was devotion to family, friends and community, and duty to his country where his life was his mantra and his purpose.  He accepted each of these callings with pride and honor and will be remembered for his spirit of generosity and kindness.  He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, two daughters and three grandchildren.  He has been laid to final rest at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.
