SERVICE MEMORIES

Milton  Sebastian Camilleri (Mickey) was born in Hartford, Connecticut on October 20, 1923 and graduated from Bulkeley High. In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Pacific and Atlantic Theaters as a Pharmacist First Mate for three years.  During the Normandy invasion, he served on an LST 66 ship and tended to sick and wounded soldiers before their return home.  Post war, he was stationed in Hawaii, where he married Elsie Rivinoja, a Navy Nurse, and was honorably discharged.  After earning his BS degree in Pharmacy at South Dakota State University, he returned to Connecticut, owned his own pharmacy, and was a community pharmacist prior to being employed as the State of Connecticut Director of the Drug Control Division, where he enforced federal and state laws concerning the distribution of controlled drugs. Mickey served as guest lecturer at universities, colleges and nursing seminars, and as an instructor for the Municipal Police Training Council and the Connecticut State Police Academy.  A member of many pharmaceutical and law enforcement associations, he served for eight years on the Board of Directors of the International Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association, for over ten years as the President and Treasurer of the Connecticut Narcotic Officers Association, and was a member of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association and the United States and New England Associations of Food and Drug Officials.  Mickey died unexpectedly at the age of 60 in 1984.  His wife, Elsie, died in 2014 at the age of 92.

Mickey is by his three daughters and sons-in-law; Marlys and Manuel Huerta of San Antonio, TX; Donna and Edward DuBaldo of Manchester; Susan and Robert Healy of Manchester; five grandchildren;  Peter and Simonne DuBaldo of Manchester,  Carmela Dahms of South Windsor; Nicholas and Noriyo DuBaldo, Travis Healy and Vanessa Healy, all of Manchester, CT.  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Riven, Zachary, Ethan, Grayson and Harper Dahms and Mari and Giulio DuBaldo.
