UNFORTUNATE  ACCIDENTAL  DEATH

Juan Jose Garcia-Herrera was a Logistics Specialist Seaman assigned to the carrier USS Nimitz.  The ship left its home port of Bremerton, Washington, to conduct pre-deployment training off the California coast and on September 27, 2019 it was tied up at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego.  About 9:00pm that evening, Juan experienced a fall from an aircraft elevator, sustaining serious injuries.  He was immediately taken to a trauma center where he died several hours later.  Investigation disclosed his death was an accident.
