SERVICE MEMORIES

Lost at sea 22 April 1943 when his ship, the Liberty Ship, SS ROBERT GRAY was torpedoed by the German submarine U-306 (von Trotha) at 1300 GCT about 125 miles south of Cape Farewell, Greenland (57-30 North/43-00 West) while en route from New York to Loch Ewe, Scotland and London, England with a cargo of war supplies and other general cargo She carried a crew of 39 men and 23 Naval Armed Guard. There were no survivors.
