Torpedoed in Gulf of Mexico
On June 23, 1942 near the mouth of the Mississippi river, the tanker SS Rawleigh Warner was torpedoed by the German submarine U-67. It was reported that the ship burst into flames upon being hitand sank within 10 minutes. There were no survivors.
