AN ACCIDENTAL DEATH
PFC Christian Bautista died on October 20, 2019 in an M1151 Advanced Armament Carrier at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California. Bautista was operating as the vehicle’s turret gunner when the accident occurred. Two uninjured Marines in the vehicle attempted life-saving measures before paramedics arrived, but Bautista was pronounced dead at the scene. Bautista reportedly enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2018 and was a graduate of the Motor Transportation School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was assigned to the 1st Transportation Support Battalion at Camp Pendleton in May 2019. PFC Bautista was from Cook County, Illinois.
