            Chaplain Beach was born 15 June 1935 at Gagetown, MI. He is a veteran of 30 years of Naval service. He has served with Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard units at sea, ashore, and overseas. His career includes combat action with the Third Marine Division in the Republic of Vietnam.

            Chaplain Beach attended General Motors Institute of Technology and received a BA degree from Taylor University, Upland, IN in 1958; an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary in 1961, and a DMin from Union Theological Seminary, VA in 1975. He completed postgraduate study in Clinical Pastoral Education/Pastoral Counseling at Bowman Gary School of Medicine, Wake Forest College, NC 1971-72.

            Chaplain Beach enlisted in the US Naval Reserve in 1953 and served in Company A91, at RTC Great Lakes until 1957. After being commissioned as an officer, Chaplain Beach was stationed at MCB, Camp Lejeune 1960-62, with assignments following at Destroyer Squadron TEN, Newport, RI, 1962-62; NAS, Twin Cities, Minneapolis, MN 1964-66; 3rd MarDiv, Republic of Vietnam 1966-69; NAS Cubi Point, Philippines, 1969-71; postgraduate study 1971-72; NH, Portsmouth, VA 1972-76; MCAS Iwakuni, Japan 1976-79; Chaplain of the Coast Guard, Governors Island, NY, 1979-82; and Director, Naval Chaplains School, Newport, RI, 1982-85; Command Chaplain at MCB Camp Lejeune, NC, 1985-87; and retired from active service on 6 MAR 1987.

            His awards include the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal with ā€œVā€; Purple Heart Medal; Navy Commendation Medal with ā€œVā€; Coast Guard Commendation Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; Presidential Unit Citation; Navy Unit Commendation; Philippine Presidential Commendation; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal with USMC device and 2 stars; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm; Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation with Palm; and the Vietnam Service Medal.

            Chaplain Beach is married to the former Ellen Sickler of Cass City, MI. They have two children: Laurie Dewey of Chesapeake, VA, and Randal Beach of Augusta, GA
