Glennon C. Bierk voluntarily enlisted in the U S NAVY RESERVE effective 08 Dec 1942.  He trained / tested as an Aviation Metalsmith at the US Naval Training Service at Farragut, Idaho. He began at Rating Metalsmith 3rd Grade in Company 158 - USNR.

He progressed from AM 3/c to AM-2/c, and reached Grade of Aviation Metalsmith First Class.( Petty Officer 1st Class). AM1C (T) V6 USNR.

Glennon Bierk attempted to enter pilot training but did not successfully negotiate his way through the testing process to qualify as a pilot.  He did earn Rifle Marksman qualification and rated as a qualified SWIMMER in training at Farragut. He later qualified as Aerial Gunner at the Naval Air Station Gunnery School , San Diego, CA.

Bierk was Honorably Discharged from the Navy on November 14, 1945.

Glennon Bierk earned the Good Conduct Medal for his stateside Navy Service

He re-enlisted in the US Navy Reserve and served in the Navy Reserve from January 15, 1947 to October 29, 1948 and was Honorably Discharged from the Naval Reserve opting out on health and personal considerations after 20 months of reserve status.
