Private Lambert Bos was reportedly born in El Paso, Texas, and historical records reflect his home town was Granite, Idaho, when he served in the Marine Corps during World War One. For action during battle on October 3, 1918, he was awarded the Navy Cross. Records reflect that during his service in France he was also awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Silver Star.
NAVY CROSS CITATION
The Navy Cross is presented to Lambert Bos, Private, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 78th Company, 6th Regiment (Marines), 2nd Division, A.E.F. in action near Blanc Mont Ridge, France, October 3, 1918. Private Bos, with two other volunteers, flanked a machine-gun next and, after one of his comrades had been wounded, captured fourteen men and two machine guns. Later, he aided in the capture of forty other prisoners in a dugout.
