Torpedo Attack off Salenro
Operating in support of invasion and occupation of Italy during Sept-Oct 1943, BUCK was on patrol off Salerno Italy when the ship was struck by a torpedo. Damage was so extensive that the ship had to be abandoned within three minutes of the attack. 97 crewmembers survived the sinking and were later rescued by friendly forces.
