In August 1943, three sisters from Boulder, Montana, enlisted together in the Navy Nurse Corps.  The sisters were all graduates of St. James Hospital in Butte, Montana.  Historical records report that the sisters were stationed together at the Naval Hospitals at Mare Island, and in Corona, California, before being assigned, still together, to the Naval Hospital, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where they took care of injured marines and sailors wounded in the Pacific battle areas.  At Pearl Harbor the trio was photographed as they descended the stairs in front of the nurses’ quarters.
