U-Boat Attack in the North Atlantic
The tanker SS Gurney E. Newlin was torpedoed by U-436 in the North Atlantic while in convoy to Manchester, England. Three were killed in the initial attack, however 45 lost their lives when the rescue ship, SS Bic Island was torpedoed the following night.
