U-Boat Attack near Aruba
The Tanker SS J. N. Pew was torpedoed by U-67 west of Aruba while en route from Aruba to the Canal Zone. The ship was struck on the port side by one torpedo which caused a fire to break out almost immediately. Of the two escaping lifeboats, one with two survivors put to shore four days later. ... The other, was at sea for 21 days. Ten of the eleven men aboard perished.
