Excerpts from obituary published in San Diego Union-Tribune on 9/14/2016:
Daniel Earl Deaton went to be with his Savior on August 31st, after almost four years of battling brain cancer. Dan was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, on August 4, 1951. He received his bachelors degree in Economics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and three Masters degrees from Gordon Conwell Seminary and Princeton Seminary. He was a brilliant man who served God as a pastor of multiple churches, a compassionate Navy Chaplain, and a Senior Systems Engineer. He retired his decorated Navy career after 29 years of service to his country, spending his last several years in the Pentagon with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Dan is survived by his parents, his wife, three daughters and three grandchildren.
Daniel Deaton's memorial will be held on Sunday, September 18th at New Life Presbyterian Church, Escondido, California. Daniel will be laid to rest on September 20th at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego with full military honors.
