Excerpts from obituary published in San Diego Union-Tribune on 7/17/2016:
During the early morning hours of June 23, 2016, Bert Edward Lee Jr. passed away surrounded by his immediate family. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Bert spent the early part of his life growing up in and around the state of Texas. Graduating from Silsbee High School where he was the quarterback of the football team, he joined the Navy when he was 19. Bert came to San Diego in 1948 for boot camp. It was during that time that he met and two years later would marry the love of his life. After leaving the Navy he started working at Convair, a job that turned into a 32-year long career. He was a tooling estimator and excelled at his position. Bert is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, his two children, two grandchildren and four grandchildren. His final resting place will be Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.
