Cdr. Theodore S. (Ted) Storck first joined the Navy as an enlisted man April 5, 1956.  He took training at the Naval Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.

He was then assigned to the commander of the Taiwan Patrol Force.Air Wing One, serving on three ships: USS Salisbury Sound, USS Pine Island, and USS Kenneth Whiting, in the Far East, homeported in Buckner Bay, Okinawa, Japan.  He was promoted to E-4 as a yeoman.

He was discharged from his two year reserve commitment in February 1958.

Following his graduation from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a B.A. in journalism, he began work at a reporter for The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead.  In 1965 he was commissioned as an ensign in the Naval Reserve.

In January 1966 he returned to active duty with the Office of Information in Washington, D.C.,    (See list of duty stations.)  He was sent to Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., where he obtained his M.A. in photo-journalism.    His next assignment was as photo officer for Naval Forces headquartered in Saigon.   He directed over 20 photographers, but he also spent about half his time covering the in-country Navy from Hue to the Delta with photos and stories.  For his work, he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V.    After a year in Vietnam, he was assigned to the Eleventh Naval District in San Diego, and then back to the Pentagon.

He left active duty in 1972, but remained in the reserves until retiring.

After leaving active duty he served three years as a sworn officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.  Leaving the LAPD in  1975 he entered the radio business owning and operating radio stations in Nebraska, California and Minnesota.
