SGT Charles Wayne Turberville was born on July 17, 1950 in Finchburg, Alabama.  He was assigned as a Marine Security Guard to the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, when on September 26, 1971 he was engaged in a softball game when the group was attacked by Khmer Rouge terrorists.  Unfortunately, SGT Turberville was killed in the attack and several other marines were injured.  He is buried at Bryant Cemetery in Finchburg.  In his honor a highway in Alabama has been named the SGT Charles Wayne Turberville Memorial Highway.
