Engagement with HMS Frolic
The sloop USS Wasp, intent on a British convoy is engaged by HMS Frolic. In a short fight, both ships sustained heavy damage to masts and rigging, but Wasp prevailed over Frolic by boarding her. The ardorof seaman John Lang carried the boarding party with him. When Frolic gave up, only four living men stood on her deck. A short lived victory though, USS Wasp was captured by the 74 gun battleship HMS Poictiers.
