U-Boat Attack south of Iceland
SS Yorkmar was torpedoed by U-645 while en convoy to Wales with food, truck parts ammunition and deck cargo. The explosion blew the hatch covers on both hatches and knocked down the main mast. The ship sank in 15 minutes in heavy seas. Survivors were picked up by HMS Kamloops and HMS Duckworth
