Excerpts from newspaper obituary published on 2/8/2018:
John James “Jackie” Yuhas formerly of Mauch Chuck, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 27, 2018 in his home in Orange Park, Florida. A 1954 graduate of Mauch Chuck Catholic High School, he joined the Navy in 1954 right out of high school. As an aviation specialist, his military service took him all over the world and was stationed with his family in Japan, Maine, Pax River Maryland, Rota Spain, and finally in Jacksonville Florida. He was a career military man, having served nearly 32 years in the Navy, retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He was a Vietnam veteran and was one of a handful of Navy enlisted personnel since the end of World War II to be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism in aerial combat. After retirement, he enjoyed Florida for many years in the company of his beloved wife. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three grandchildren. Interment with full military honors we be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Florida.
